HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

So I am hoping that the new year will bring some change for me. I am not one to make resolutions. I like to set some goals but am usually not the greatest at even attempting my goals. This year is the year. The year to make some change in my life. I have really been struggling lately with some life crap that I really can't go into here but needless to say I am going to make some changes. I have to. So I already have a couple of goals in mind and know what I need to do to work towards those goals.

Tomorrow also starts the count down. Count down to what you ask! Count down to my birthday. I will be 40 in a month. Not a birthday that I look forward to. Not to say I feel old. Well. Basically I do. Just right now, my life kind of sucks. And all I need to make it even suckier is by turning 40. At least I can throw a pity party if nothing else.

With my birthday looming over me, I do plan on making a mini-album with a daily note/photo to document that last month before I turn 40. I am going to use Ali Edwards' Christmas journal as my example. Just a random (but not so random) collection of daily journaling to document my last days until I officially turn old. Well old in my eyes. Not that anyone else turning 40 is old to me. Just me turning 40 feels old to me.

Sorry for the negative post to mark the beginning of a bright new year. Unfortunately it is a dark time in my life that I am not really happy about. However no one can make it better but me and tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. Whatever!

Here are my latest projects for Memory Purses. If you are looking to purchase one for a holiday gift, do not hesitate on ordering. You need to order today!

A simple Christmas insert made from Love, Elsie Noel. I made the Christmas tree from white foam.

These inserts are made from my nature photos I took and posted a few weeks ago. I wanted to see how funky they would look in the purse. I actually think it looks pretty cool.

The last set is made from Loveland by Scenic Route. A little Valentine's Day insert for you. I left a spot for a picture to be added. BTW, it says "sweethearts" using the round heart for the word "heart".

This is for you Kate...

So here is a picture of my new shoes. Yes they are Chucks. Chucks with cherries. I totally couldn't resist purchasing these bad boys. You know what I hate about Chucks? Chucks are expensive. Oh these weren't expensive... but on the norm, Chucks are expensive. I remember back in the day they were cheap. My goodness, it's just canvas. Canvas can't be that expensive. E's daughter wanted a pair a couple of years ago and I wouldn't buy any because I couldn't find them for under $40 for the plain ones! Of course that didn't stop my sister and I from buying matching Chucks that are orange with butterflies and flowers from the Converse website for like a gabillion dollars each. Well maybe they were around $50 each. But still in my mind that equates to a gabillion for Chucks. I mean come on!

Here is a crazy little story leading up to why I am awake as 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning. So after work I took a little nap. I really could be qualified as a professional napper if I were to go pro and compete. Yes I know it is better to take a 20 minute power nap versus the two hour nap I conquered today. Back to my story. I napped. I woke up thinking it was about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning... a little too early to start my work day. My clock is set about 20 minutes ahead and the alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m. I snooze it until 7:36 a.m. to get ready for work. Keep in mind my commute is about 5 minutes. So I am thinking it is about 5:00 a.m. I decide to go check my e-mails for a couple of minutes before heading back to a snuggly warm bed. I look at the clock in the living room and cuss it because it reads 9:00 therefore the batteries are dead. I check my e-mails and read the clock on the computer at 9:00 p.m. At this point, I am like WTF? What time is it? So I chance it and call my sister. Luckily she answers... meaning she doesn't answer more times than not! I ask her what time it is. She confirms that it is 9:00 p.m. It now hits me that I was napping instead of waking from a night's sleep. Seriously when I awoke, I didn't even consider it was from a nap. I just looked at my alarm clock wrong thinking it was morning. I tend to wake up several times during the night and check my e-mails at least once. So getting up like this wasn't that unusual... and I really thought the batteries had died in the living room clock. Weird. So now you understand why I am wide awake at 1:00 in the morning!

12.01.2007

Nothing really new to report, I just know I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks and thought I would write a few thoughts.

Just did some dishes. Man I hate housework. Seriously. I don't mind laundry but I hate the folding. Literally all of our clothes, clean mind you, are littering the laundry room, living room couch, and the guest bedroom. I am going to work at folding the clothes this weekend and putting them away. Granted I say this every weekend but this might be the weekend. You never know.

This morning my mom and I got up early and went to breakfast. My breakfast was delicious. We went to Madden's in Bryan (Texas). I had the Creme Brulee French Toast which was to die for. I could have used a double dose of this delicious meal! My mom had the Eggs Tostada which was pretty good too. After breakfast we went to the Brazos Center for the annual Christmas Craft Show. This is my third year attending. It is such a wonderful little show. Every year there is a booth filled with goodies painted with snowman. The crafter does such a fantastic job with her wonders. She uses old things that she finds such as beat-up suitcases, coal buckets, kitchen utensils, wooden ironing boards, you get the idea. Each year I have bought something for my sister because she collects snowman stuff. I can't tell you what I got her this year as she reads my blog. Although I have hinted to her that I visited this booth, now whether she took the hint or not... I just noticed that my sister hasn't blogged in a month. I need to get on her.

My mom and I had to kind of rush this morning to make sure we could make it to the vet's before noon. Tiger, one of our newest additions to the pet family, has been sick. She has been at the vet's since Thursday. Tiger is a momma dog that we found down the road with one of her babies. So Tiger and Lucky have been the 15th and 16th addition to our dog posse. Lucky is named that because he was in the middle of the road when my stepdad happen to drive by. He rescued them and named the pup Lucky. Anyways, back to Tiger. Wednesday Tiger started vomiting. She continued through the next day so we decided to take her to the vet. The vet thought she might have ulcer's because of the color of the vomit. Gave her two shots and some pills. I took her home. All day long, mom tried to feed Tiger the pills with no luck. Tiger wouldn't take her pill with anything! That afternoon, I went to visit Tiger and could tell she just wasn't feeling well. I called the vet and alerted them that I would probably be bringing her back. I figured I could wait until Friday morning but went ahead and took her in Thursday afternoon. So I have called the vet on a daily basis. They can't really say there is anything wrong with her. The problem is that she won't eat and hasn't pooped. The vet wanted to make sure she was eating and to see the poop to make sure it was okay. So now we are on a waiting game. They are keeping her hydrated through an IV. My mom and I went by the vet today to visit Tiger just in case we couldn't bring her home. Needless to say it was just a visit and she will be at the vets until at least Monday. I feel so bad for her. She just looks so sad. Doesn't even wag her tail for my mom and me... which is highly unusual!

Bought some fabulous fabric at my local quilt store, Lone Star Quiltworks, on Friday. The fabric is fabulous, all Moda. I got a yard that looks like a paint by numbers painting not quite finished with birds. The colors are green, red, teal, brown, and orange. I thought I would make a little valance for my crap {scrap} room. Doesn't really have enough orange in the fabric to suite me but I couldn't resist it. I kept going back so figured it was a keeper. The other fabric, about a yard and a half, is five different fabrics in green, teal, and brown that are super-freaking-fantastic. I have a little project that I want to make with these fabrics... we'll see. I can't quite reveal the project as it is a gift.

Haven't done too much scrapping lately. I did a layout for A True Friend pet challenge blog that I haven't posted yet. I have several projects I need to get done this weekend. Another layout for A True Friend and several purse inserts for Memory Purses. My goal is to get them done by Sunday night so I can scan at work on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed.

A while back I was tagged by two chix, Aimeslee and Michele, so here is my response:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post these rules on your blog before you answer.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself (on your blog, we all want to know them).
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. (But don't tag me back).
4. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are my 7 random/weird facts:

1. I want a tattoo. I seriously love tattoos but don't have any myself. I told my sister that for my 40th birthday, my mom, my sister, and I are going to get a tattoo. They are inked while I am a ink virgin. I have seriously been thinking about what I want and today my tattoo decision is to get 4 stars. But I don't want just black, I want some color to them. My back up is to get a 4 on my right shoulder and a 0 on my left shoulder in a really fancy scripty font.
2. I can make myself cry thinking about my dog Baby passing. I am tearing up now just writing this. She isn't gone yet but when I think about how much longer I have with her, I cry. Baby just turned 10 in September. She has been blind for about 2 years now. Baby was a gift to me from my aunt when I got married to my ex. So this month, December, Baby has been my baby for 10 years. While she is a grumpy old dog that wants to sleep or ride in the car, she is my grumpy old dog and I can't imagine life without her. I don't want to imagine life without her.
3. I love my car. I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle. This is the fanciest and most expensive car I have ever owned and probably will ever own. It has three rows of seating, DVD player, and sunroof. It is a wonderful car. I bought it pre-owned from the dealer my family buys from... it was the car of the wife of the dealer owner. So it was practically brand new with less than 4,000 miles on it.
4. I hate my hair. I am need of a haircut right now. I am always in search of the perfect haircut by the perfect hairdresser, as is everyone! My problem is that I am basically lazy. It would take about 3 minutes a day to fix my hair to where it would be cute. That is too much trouble. I want to just wash and wear. So I am struggling with how I want my hair to be cut to minimize the trouble with making it cute. Impossible.
5. I love action, shoot 'em up, bloody movies. I love romantic and comedy movies too. Hate, absolutely hate scary movies. I have nightmares from watchin scary movies. No, I am not 3 years old but I still get nightmares!
6. I love to eat breakfast for supper. Tonight in fact I had bacon and egg tacos for supper. I am so thankful I moved to Texas and was introduced to the breakfast taco. No the breakfast burrito but the breakfast taco.
7. I had a punk mohawk in the 80's. Don't know what possessed me. In the early 80s I started wearing my hair punk/new wave. Who didn't!?!?!?! My sister and I were attending a street fair where there was a hairstylist booth set up. Something struck and I cut my hair in a mohawk. Really the sides of my head weren't shaved bald but were shaved really short. I rocked that hawk for several months! It was fantastic.

So there you have 7 random/weird facts about me. I am not going to tag anyone. Feel free to tag yourself and reveal some weirdness about yet.

Thursday Ten: Blogs or Websites

Here is your 2 Scrappy Chix Designs Thursday Ten blog challenge: List your top 10 blogs or websites. I know I have covered a similar topic before but it is always nice to introduce or remind chix of some great sites. Here are my top ten:

1. Etsy - Seriously I cannot stay away and I cannot not purchase!
2. The Pioneer Woman - Not a post related to papercrafting but a very entertaining woman that lives in the country.
3. Nicole Heady - One of my new favorites... crazy skills in papercrafting!
4. The Feathered Nest - Just some wonderful crafty projects and ideas!
5. Unpubbed - Challenge blog for those that haven't been published. One day, one day....
6. ScrapScene - Just a great source for all things papercrafty.
7. Scrap Smack - A place where you can smack the scrap industry anonymously as well as glean a crapload of great inside information regarding the scrap industry. Well you do have to weed through a lot of posts by trolls and spammers. But it is a fun read when you don't worry 10 or 20 minutes (uhm or a couple hours later) that you will never get back!
8. Silent Bob Speaks - A public diary from Kevin Smith. He made a post one day where he said "it was all blowj*bs and lollipops". Sorry to be frank, but that has got to be the greatest tag line EVER!
9. Dooce - Another non-papercrafting blog that I found somewhere... just full of funny story's about the authori's life. She also takes these crazy pictures of her dog on a daily basis. I seriously wish just one of my gabillion dogs was that trained to pose as I command, seriously!
10. Sublime Stitching - A fab arty company from Austin. The chick designs some kick-ass retro/trendy embroidery patterns.

So there are my top ten, I hope you get at least one new site to stalk from this list. Now give me your top ten and maybe I will find a new site or two to stalk...

Saturday Six: EOY To Do

So I forgot to do my weekly 2 Scrappy Chix Designs Thursday Ten Blog Challenge... How does a Saturday Six Blog Challenge sound? Your Saturday Six challenge is to list the six things you need to get done by the end of the year... or at least would like to get done! And it doesn't count to say mandatory stuff for the holidays such as mail your holiday cards, put your tree up/down, make holiday gifts, etc. Here are my six:

1. Get a decent haircut. My normal hairdresser hasn't been doing the greatest job lately so I am thinking about trying a new salon.
2. Get my glasses adjusted. For this I need to travel to Austin. I just got new glasses but I bumped them getting in my car the other day and now they aren't fitting right (and it is really bugging me!)
3. Get back into water aerobics (or anything at all dealing with some exercise). My mom and I were doing water aerobics religiously but then I went on vacation and we were looking for a new place to aquacize. We finally found a new gym but just haven't signed up. The last place we were excercising was full of elderly ladies that did nothing but bitch and moan the whole hour. Even if I didn't participate or follow the conversation, it was miserable.
4. Get all the laundry folded and put up as well as purge stuff for donation or trash. This sounds like no big deal... in my house it is major. I don't mind doing the laundry, it is the folding I am not so good at. We have two spots in the house where clean clothes collect. I seriously need to go through all of it and put it away or dispose of it.
5. Clean out my sunroom and cedar closet. The sunroom has all my boxes from my move two years ago that I haven't unpacked... some boxes have been through more than one move. I need to purge and put away. The cedar closet has a bunch of junk that needs to be purged and put away as well as a bunch of my scrap supplies that haven't made it back in my scrap room yet.
6. Finish painting the interior of the house. There are a few rooms that haven't been finished yet. It really won't take that much effort... it just needs to be done!

Now what are some things you need to get done before the end of the year?

Natural Beauty

Here are some pictures I took on the way to work the other morning. It was really foggy and everything looked weird but beautiful in the fog. I thought these pictures turned out fantastic. Now I am not one to photoshop anything except to crop. These beauties I am just going to change to black and white and print out. I am considering matting/framing them for my mother for Christmas. Good thing she doesn't read my blog.... well I don't think she reads it anyway!

Thursday Ten: 10 in 10

This week's Thursday Ten challenge from 2 Scrappy Chix Designs is to tell us what you would like to accomplish in the next ten years... can be as simple as getting your junk drawer organized to a little more like graduating with your Master's. Here is my 10 in 10:

1. Get my scrap room organized.
2. Unpack those boxes that have gone through 2-3 moves.
3. Lose weight.
4. Live a healthier lifestyle.
5. Pay off some debt.
6. Save money.
7. Get published (in the scrapbook world).
8. Find my haircut.
9. Permanently remove the strange dark hairs in my chin and mustache. (Yeah I know TMI. Sorry!)
10. Get a tattoo.

What is your 10 in 10?

DT Application Projects

Here are some projects that I made for an application for the 2008 Worldwin Papers Design Team. Since I was not selected for the design team I thought I would share my projects. While I am still excited about these projects {these are the projects that I was so excited about from my post on October 18, 2007} it is very hard to design with cardstock as 90% of your project.

BOO Banner - I was so excited when I completed this project. I am sure you can understand why... it rocks! Supplies used: Worldwin Caribbean Colors cardstock, K & Company glitter chipboard alphas, velvet ribbon from Michaels, and webbing/glittery pipe cleanrs/feather Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby.

Sweet Card - Supplies used: Worldwin Caribbean Colors cardstock, KI Memories Love Elsie collection embossed paper, Making Memories glitter, Hobby Lobby flocking, and American Crafts Thickers.

Boop 8.5x11 Layout - Supplies used: Worldwin Caribbean Colors cardstock, KI Memories Love Elsie patterned paper/stickers/chipboard buttons, Sharpies, StazOn ink, alpha stamps, and American Crafts Thickers. Please note that you have to have seen the movie Superbad to get this layout.

Hi Card - Supplies used: Worldwin Caribbean Colors cardstock, October Afternoon journaling tag, May Arts ribbon, and American Crafts Thickers.

It is always disappointing to be turned down for anything. Regardless I made some wonderful projects that I really feel good about. One of the reasons I submitted for this specific design teams was for a chance to work with Kerry McKibbins who is on the 2007 Design Team. It turns out she was not selected for the 2008 Design Team which is extremely disappointing and makes me glad I wasn't selected. Not that I know Kerry but I stalk her blog. She is a riot! You seriously need to read her blog.

Memory Purses

This is my latest Memory Purses project. Yes more pictures of Sugar. But you have to admit that she is a cupcake as this paper line will tell you. I love, love, la-hove my felt cupcake that I made for this purse. It is from a pattern that Lisa Pace gave to the chatters at 2 Scrappy Chix Designs during a celebrity chat. I knew it would be perfect with this paper thus this purse. Enjoy!
